Observations of PKS 2155-304 with EUVE
Abstract
We present a high accuracy light curve for PKS 2155-304 observed with the Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer during the checkout phase. The light curve shows no variations larger than about 5% over a 1.5 day observing period. The observed flux is inconsistent with that expected by extrapolating the soft X-ray spectra as constrained by the simultaneously measured EUV flux obtained by the ROSAT WFC and PSPC\@. We conclude that the EUV emission from this source has changed by a factor of 2 since the ROSAT observations. This interpretation is supported by the observed drop in optical flux. We will also present analysis of the polarization of the EUV light. This work has been supported by NASA contracts NAS5-30180 and NAS5-29298.
